Official: Roberto joins Benfica ranks

Spanish goalkeeper signs long-term deal with Portuguese champions

roberto_jimenez.jpgThe wait is finally over as Benfica and Atletico Madrid have reached an agreement over goalkeeper Roberto, which will see the Spaniard stay with the Lisbon outfit until 2015.

The Portuguese giants made the announcement only minutes ago through the country's stock market and revealed that Roberto Jiminez Gago cost the club 8.5 million euros and that the netminder signed a five-year deal.

Benfica also revealed through their statement that a release clause has been inserted into the player's contract, valued at 20 million euros.
