I'm happy whether I stay or go - Luisao

Central defender will speak with club about future

Luisao-Celebs20071125.jpgBenfica's Luisao has arrived from his holidays and has stated that he is happy to remain with the Portuguese champions, but would still like to discuss his future at the club.

Luisao was the subject on alleged interest from Atletico Madrid and when the stopper was not informed of the news, he did not take the fact that Benfica had not informed him at all well.

Having reported for pre-season training with the club he's been with for the past seven seasons, the Brazilian international has since changed his posture and claims that he would be just as content if he were to stay with the Lisbon giants.

"I will wait, now that I have returned, to see what would be the best route to take. What that is? I will be happy at Benfica or at another club," stated the Benfica captain. "I will speak, in order to understand what is in the heads of the people at the club, and see what the president expects of me."

"When you speak of Benfica players there are always inquiries. regardless of what happens, whether there be offers or not, my work at the club will always be at 100%. No supporter can accuse me of the contrary."

I agree in him giving his all for the club, but he also has to remember that his contract was just redone.
Luisao received increased wages due to Atletico's inquires before last season.
I like Luisao due to his presence in the club. He may look awkward at times, but is solid. His age also shouldn't be a concern due to his position.
That being said, it would seem that he's playing out his career in Benfica Red.

Like I've mentioned in previous posts, the backline is the only part that Benfica doesn't have a great deal of cover. We need all of the backline to come back. especially if our new midfielders, let us down.
