Yebda makes Serie A switch

Midfielder secures loan move to Napoli

yebda_benfica.jpgBenfica Hassan Yebda will play in a third league in three years as the midfielder will test the waters in Italy with Napoli.

The move comes as little surprise as the Algerian international never figured into Jorge Jesus' plans. The player spent last season with financially distressed English club Portsmouth.

Due to Pompey's dire economic situtation, the now Championship outfit could not afford to hold onto the former Le Mans player, forcing him to return to Benfica.

Napoli have the option to make the deal permanent should Yebda impress at the Stadio San Paolo.

Yebda was never at the level of Aimar or Martins. JJ did a great job in loaning him out last season since we ended up extending the record number of titles for Benfica, winning the league cup, and going far in Europa. Last year Yebda did not impress on a team that got kicked out of the EPL. I wish him the best but he wouldn't be a fit in our current squad.
This makes sense..

We are having trouble in middlefield especially high with both Aimar & Martins inconsistent.. so loan out a midfielder who has been known to have a high work rate.

Clearly JJ doesn't know why this team is playing poorly. Airton is not even on the bench..?

Mak will go too, it seems like a lot of serviceable players never get to play.. but ones that are middling at best get loads of playing time.

Good-luck to Yebda he is a decent player..
