Katsouranis makes move to Panathinaikos?

Midfielder returns to native Greece

KatsouranisReports coming out of Greece have claimed that Benfica's Katsouranis has already made the switch to Panathinaikos FC, but neither club has confirmed the actual deal.

After landing French striker Djibril Cisse, the Greek press have asserted that the 30-year-old midfielder is as good as on his way back to his homeland after completeing a 2.5m euros move to the Prasinoi, but only has minor details to sort out with the Portuguese club.

"I very much wish to represent Panathinaikos," alleged Katsouranis. "I will not speak any more, but will wait for my presesntation."

"I have to go to Lisbon, but ask for patience so that I can answer all the questions when I am presented to my new group of colleagues."

Katsouranis' desire to leave Benfica in order to be closer to home is nothing new as the Greek international has mentioned on several occasions that he wanted to leave the club in order to be closer to his family in Greece.

It may very well appear that the player has been granted his wish and with the likes of Yebda, Ruben Amorim, Carlos Martins all on the roster, not to mention the arrival of Brazilian international Ramires, Benfica may be willing to allow former AEK Athens player go as the team has ample coverage in the holding midfielder role.

Maybe greek players didnt find what they wanted there..by the way, what can anyone like in a team of losers??? Enjoy Europa League this year. Look at you..Porto asks 20 millions for Bruno Alves!!!(he played one year in Greece) and we just took your player for a piece of bread
And about that bloody f***** that you named, learn that they have beaten with 7-0 from Juventus, they lost from Molde,Hereinven,Malme and many others small clubs..they are the Europe's big joke.
Nikolas, seriously?

I liked Katsouranis and appreciate all he's done, but just like Karagounis and Macaridis, it's not the club's fault that Greek players are still attached to their mother's apron.

Honestly, we all know there's only one team in Greece.

GO OLYMPIACOS!!!!!!!
Everyone is ok, now

Well, we are happy to have Katsouranis in our team now, and plays near to Karagounis..There are two players that can play hard and for the good name of their team. They are Panathinaikos supporters from their childhoold, so we are totally satisfied with that move.
But what about Benfica?
last year we prefered to canceled the Aimar's move in our team and he came to yours..what did he done in a season?Just nothing.like Saviola will. You lost with 5 goals from gauros in Greecefor UEFA cup!where in Benfica anymore?i only see your big rivals making moves and plays footie.Such a same for the team that Eusebio played.
So, keep saying that you dont like Karagounis and Katsouranis, but they will be playing in CL and thhis year. And beware when they meet your national team in their way ;) Especially when Kara meets you..

I am little bit chocked with the last comment because appart of some mistakes, Katsouranis was very important to Benfica in some key matches. I remember against Sporting, Guimaraes, Braga ........ he scored some important goals and sometime he played also in other positions when was asked to. That´s a shame how an important player left the club only by 3 M. (Mostly because he wants to leave, he didn't won nothig at the club, only confusion and unsympathy by the supporters). But on the other side, the rivals FCPorto sells players like Paulo Machado, that NEVER played by the principal team and was always on loan, by 3,5 M. Something is wrong, isn't?

Maybe also Cristian Rodriguez last season was too bad to play for Benfica. It was much better buy old decadent stars like Aimar to make some work to benfica's doctors and to sell merchandising. The "dream team" lost, the "worker team" won.

Ramires? I hope that not ruin his carrer like many players that have passed in Benfica last years (like Katsouranis?)
He's done his job

Katsouranis was at Benfica longer than I thought. When Benfica signed him and Karagounis I thought those guys would flop big time, well I was kind of right. Karagounis was terrible, but not a freekicks. Katsouranis I wasn't a big fan of, he was inconsistent, I really hated him when he ruined the game against Porto at the Luz 08-09 season when Porto was awarded the penalty. Katsouranis was getter slower each season that passed by thats why I wanted him to transfer earlier. Well, since Benfica has signed Ramires we don't need Katsouranis anymore, we got a fresh and faster player.
