I will do everything to win titles - Saviola

Striker to wear the number "30"

Javier SaviolaJavier Saviola has touched down in Portugal and is anxious to get the season underway. The Argentine ace was officially presented to the media. He is looking to resurrect his career and promises to work hard to ensure good things will come the team's way.

The striker has had a few seasons to forget at Real Madrid and Barcelona as the 27-year-old was mainly used as a glorified substitue than anything else.

But Saviola confesses that those days are now behind him and his new-found focus is to play the only way he knows how to for his new club.

"I have to forget about the past," stated the South American. "I am now at a very important club and I am satisfied to be with a great emblem as this one."

"I want to have a good season and help Benfica win the championship, which will always be the objective. We want Benfica to always be on top."

"This group is united and is thirsty for glory. I feel a great sense of honour to be at such a big club as this one and I have the responsibiltiy to show my quality of football to the fans."

"I am anxious to start working and I believe that this stage of my career will be positive."

Adaptaion not  a problem

Asked whether he has had time to get familiar with his new surroundings and team-mates, Saviola already knows Pablo Aimar, and with the help of other fellow countrymen Di Maria and Shaffer, the striker feels that his adaptaion will happen in no time.

"I have had my first contact with the team. I already know Aimar and I already have been well treated by everyone else. I would like for my adaptation to occur as quickly as possible."

"I would like to leave a message to all the supporters and that is that I will do everything possible to help Benfica win titles. Personally, I want to have a good season."
