Official: Katsouranis moves to Panthinaikos

Midfielder ends tenure with Benfica

KatsouranisIt has finally come to pass as Katsouranis has sealed his move to Greek side Panathinaikos, as announced on the Greek club's official web site. The Euro 2004 champion has signed with the Athens side for the next four seasons.

It was only a matter of time before the news became official as it was widely expected that the Greek international was already on his way out of the Estadio da Luz.

Katsouranis had wanted a move away from Benfica for the last year-and-a-half and his wish was finally granted as the midfielder was entering in his last year of his contract with the Portuguese club.

The 30-year-old arrived from AEK Athens three seasons ago, via then coach Fernando Santos, in a deal worth 2m euros. It is believed that Benfica will receive 2.5-3m euros for the combative midfielder.
