"We must always think of winning" - Amorim

Midfielder expects same Benfica as Everton match

ruben_amorim3.bmpBenfica silenced a lot of critics after last weekend's defeat to Braga when they travelled to Liverpool to blank Everton at Goodison Park. The Aguias will look to get back on track on the domestic front when they host Naval on Monday.

Utility man Ruben Amorim explains that the expectation and mentalty within the Benfica walls are to never relinquish the idea that winning is all that matters, regardless of who the opponent may be.

"Above all else, we want to have our objectives intact. We want to win all the compeitions we participate in, but always taking it match by match," said the midfielder on Benfica TV. "The players who are at Benfica always have to be motivated. The pressure here is immense and because of that  we must always think about winning."

As for Naval, "I expect a difficult match, as always, but we have had some good games at the Estadio da Luz and I expect it to be the same. Now, if we don't have the same attitude like we had in our match against Everton, we will not be able to beat Naval."

The Lisbon side will be without the Liga's leading goalscorer, Oscar Cardozo, as the Paraguayan has been suspended. For Amorim it is not much of a concern as he feels that "the squad is vast and it is certain that someone else will be able to score goals."

So what Benfica lost thats what sports is all about winning and losing. Braga lost to Guimaraes should they be criticized? No, because so far Braga is having a good season as well. Benfica will have to show Naval on Monday that they can win.
