Tough matches make champions - Ramires

Midfielder feels team has right qualitites to succeed

ramires_suckingthumb.jpgHaving had to miss out on Benfica's nervous win yesterday due to injury, Ramires still liked what he saw from the stands and adds that victories just like the one against Naval helps the team build character as they pursue their objective of being champions.

The Brazilian was forced to watch the match as a spectator after picking up a leg injury in Benfica's win against Everton in the Europa League last week. Although itching to be a part of the action, Ramires feels that his team-mates pulled off an impressive and vital victory.

"Whomever is forced to sit out always suffers more," said the former Cruzeiro player. "The heart tightens because you can't make any contributions and help the team. It was a difficult game with balls hitting the crossbar and the goalkeeper saving everything. On the field I can help my companions, but if I'm out, I can't do anything."

"But these difficult matches makes a team a champion. It is not winning by large margins that make champions. What is important are the three points. The team was focused on that objective and we have all the possibilities to be champions."
