Di Maria slams reports

Winger denies ever speaking to English press

angeldimaria_headinhands.jpgBenfica sensation Angel Di Maria has come out and chastised the English press for printing fabrications that he is interested in making a move to the Premier League, namely Manchester Untied.

News of the World and The Sun reported that the Argentine was desperate on making a switch to Old Trafford and that it has been his dream since he was growing up in his native Argentina.

But the Benfica forward has come out and quashed the printed stories adding that his head is strictly with the Portuguese club, who he is very happy with.

"I am surspirsed," said Di Maria on the club's official website. "This is the only thing that I can say when I read supposed declarations that have been attribtued to me , but the truth is that I never made them.

"Those who know me know that those words are not mine, nor is it the way that I am accustomed to speaking. On the other hand, my head is with Benfica, which I have said recently.

"I am very focused on the team's objectives. It was Benfica who showed confidence in me and because of this, I want to repay the club and all of the supporters who support me daily.

"I am concentrating on Benfica, regardless of the rumours that have surfaced. I don't know what interest these newspapers have when they publish declarations that I never made."
