Benfica to land Robinho?

Lisbon club make informal inquiries

robinho.jpgAccording to English daily The Independent, Benfica have approached Manchester City and have asked what conditions would have to be met in order for the former Real Madrid player to become available.

The Samba star's petulant behaviour over at the Eastlands has been well-documented and the Citizens are very much looking to offload their multi-million dollar flop, and Benfica emerging as a possible suitor.

Details of any discussions have not been revealed by either club and newly inserted coach Roberto Mancini, and chief executive Garry Cook, are keeping their cards close to their chests when asked about the Brazilian's situation.

With the scoring exploits by Tevez, Bellamy and Petrov this season, Robinho has fallen way down in the pecking order and looks to be leaving the city of Manchester with his bags already packed.

Former club Santos are also vying for the forward's services, and appear to be in the lead, but Robinho will have to reduce his salary considerably in order to seal a move back to his native Brazil.

The 26-year-old has stated that he needs to be playing regular first team football if he wants to make Carlos Dunga's Brazil squad, as it is a World Cup year, and feels that he cannot achieve it with Manchester City.

Robinho bah another flop like adraino. Saviola is better than robinho, Saviola and Cardozo, i can hear echos of Saviola and kluivert a deadly duo they were for barca, Why fix whats probably one if not the best partnership in europe. Saviola always mixs well, he was great with Crespo too hes the most underrated Striker ever...
not sure

you know what the meaning of "burnout" is, Orlando. Roberto Carlos is probably the greatest LB ever. He's been a great player on great teams that have won CL. He's just old now.

The Adu comparision was a joke. But don't get it twisted, Robinho is a joke too. I don't care if he played for Real Madrid! What did he do at Real Madrid expect for the same thing he is doing at Man City?!?! The dude is a joke and you know it. And Adu touched the field 2 or 3 games and scored for Benfica. It wasn't his fault that coaching didn't want him to play, the kid worked really hard and Rui Costa even liked the kid. It just goes to show the Portuguese soccer politics that goes in in the Liga.
We dont need him

If Benfica is looking to make a couple deals then grab Ricardo Quaresma or another portuguese flop. We need these players to have their shot and make it to the World Cup. Benfica already has di maria, saviola, cardozo. We dont need brazilians. So if you really want give portuguese players a shot.
Robinho...big mistake!

Robinho is a more trouble then he is worth, a pre madonna as they say here in the UK, this guy is self centred and thinks everything resolves around him. I have never rated this guy and certainly don't want to join my team Benfica. Keep Di Maria and let Robinho go back to Brasil and join other burnouts like Roberto Carlos there.

Robinho is pretty much like Di Maria he likes to be flashy and they both play winger. Robinho cost to much even if he takes a pay cut I still believe his wages will be very high for Benfica. LusoStriker don't compare Freddy Adu to Robinho, Adu had troubles cracking last place Belenenses while Robinho has played for Real Madrid. Freddy Adu is a joke, anyways Robinho would help Benfica in jersey sales. And Chris/DC I don't see Ramires dropping to the bench if anything he would move in the middle Ramires is the fastest player on Benfica it would be foolish to drop him in the bench. A move to Benfica would revive his career but Benfica looks good as of right now so I wouldn't really care if he moves here or not.
Not a fit

Given his current play it would be hard for him to get playing time. The reason he wants to leave is to get regular playing time. ManCity offered at least him playing every other game and he's still not happy. He'll go to a smaller club but who in the world by that ridicules salary. That's the problem with the English league the over pay players.
Benfica, don't!

You don't want a cry baby flop playing for your club. I hate to say this, but he is like Quaresma... He is only a good club player when he plays in his country and a flop anywhere elses... Why would you want a little kid running around the pitch? You already had Freddy Adu(which is better :P)

give Man City first option on Di Maria, but it seems he's already turned him down. How much can Benfica offer? He can't cost less than 15 mil. I think Man City paid 33 for him. Plus his wage bill must be huge. Di Maria plays on the left wing. Cardozo and Saviola are up top. Where's he going to play? Right wing? That sends Ramires to the bench? Maybe in the summer when Benfica sell Di Maria, right now i dont see any room for him

I read that Robinho was qouted saying "90 per cent certain" that he is going to Santos. I wouldnt mind if he came to Benfica but i would really love to see more Portuguese players at Benfica.
