Real Madrid set to fight Chelsea for Benfica’s David LuizDefender chase hotting up Real Madrid are set to intensify their pursuit of Benfica defender David Luiz following reported interest from Chelsea, according to reports in Portugal.
The Spanish side have been credited with an interest in the Brazilian for over 12 months, with Real believed to have explored the possibility of bringing Luiz to the Santiago Bernabeu during the January transfer window as cover for the injured Pepe. Madrid daily AS recently suggested that a deal for the 22-year-old to join Cristiano Ronaldo in the Spanish capital next season was a distinct possibility. However, it has been reported in recent days that Premiership club Chelsea have joined the list of potential suitors for Luiz, who was also linked with Manchester United earlier this year. As a result, A Bola states that Real have been forced to step up their quest to bring the talented youngster to Spain by accelerating their moves towards a transfer. Asked about Luiz yesterday, Real sporting director Emilio Butragueno admitted that the club are well aware of the player and continue to follow his progress. Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti is believed to be a big admirer of Luiz, and sees the centre-back as a key addition to a struggling defence. Benfica hold the advantage in any negotiations, however, with Luiz currently tied down to a deal until 2015 at the Estadio da Luz, with a 50m euro release clause in his contract. di maria, luiz and maybe cardozo.
Benfica should not be taken for a ride. If Real Madrid or Chelsea , Man City want these players,
Benfica should make 100 million Euros.
Di Maria=40mill
Cardozo=25mill
Luiz=35Mill
That is too good to refuse and that sort of money will set the club up financially for years to come.
