Roland Linz “optimistic and enthusiastic” ahead of new season

Austrian striker happy to stay at Braga

Roland LinzSporting Braga striker Roland Linz says he is looking forward to a positive season for himself and his team. The marksman is happy to be back in the north of Portugal as the Arsenalistas begin a fresh cycle under new coach Domingos Paciencia.

The Austrian international striker has consistently found the net in Portugal for Boavista and Braga, but fell out with former Braga coach Jorge Jesus last year and was shipped out on loan to Grasshoppers Zurich in the January transfer window.

Linz was a big hit in Switzerland, scoring 8 times in 15 league matches. Back in Portugal, Linz is happy to commit his immediate future to Braga.

“I’m optimistic and enthusiastic about the new season. Sporting Braga is building a good team and I want to help the team have another positive campaign,” said the forward upon arriving back in the country for pre-season training.

“Although in football anything is possible, the priority for me is to fulfil my contract with Braga.”

Linz has a contract with Braga until the end of the 2009/10 season.
