Carlao receives international clearanceNew Braga striker ready to contribute to Arsenalistas Braga boss Leonardo Jardim has received a boost with the news that the international certificate of new signing Carlao has come through, enabling the striker to be used starting from Sunday’s home Liga ZON Sagres match against Gil Vicente.
Despite an unbeaten start to the campaign, Braga have found goals hard to come by, scoring just five times in their first five matches of 2011/12. Jardim’s options up front have been curtailed by a metatarsal injury suffered by the club’s record signing Ze Luis, so the capture of Carlao was welcome news for the Arsenalistas.
Carlao proved at Uniao de Leiria that he can be relied on for goals in the Portuguese top flight. The 25-year-old was heavily linked to a move to Sporting, before eventually leaving for Japan.
The Brazilian marksman is eligible to play in the Europa League, the group stage of which starts one week today with Braga travelling to English side Birmingham City.
