Barely half a year after leaving the club, Uruguayan midfielder Luis Aguiar has re-signed for Sporting Braga.
Aguiar enjoyed a stellar season in 2008/09. His powerful midfield performances earned him rave reviews as one of the best players in Portugal, and a subsequent big-money move to Dynamo Moscow.
However, things have not worked out for the talented Aguiar in the Russian capital, and Braga did not hesitate to boost their midfield options by bringing back the playmaker. The loan contract runs until the end of the season, but the Arsenalistas also have an option to make the deal permanent in the summer.
Despite his exploits last year, the 24-year-old Aguiar will not necessarily walk straight into Domingos Paciencia’s team. The creative duo of Hugo Viana and Marcio Mossoro, both similar sorts of players to Aguiar, have been in outstanding form all season.
Nevertheless, the capture signals Braga’s intentions as they fight to break the mould of the traditional Portuguese championship contenders.

This will help Braga both this season and next (if the buy him back). Its good to see additional teams fighting for the top spot and planning ahead. Even if Braga finish second to Benfica ;-) they will still need these players for the CL next year. When it comes to Europe I'll cheer for all Portuguese teams.

Wow is Luis Aguiar back in Braga!?...I knew he wouldn’t last long in Russia and I’m so happy to see him back in the Portuguese league with Braga…He was easily one of the top three players for Braga last season and I hope he picks off where he left off…I can’t wait to see the classy midfielder work his magic…Now if Braga can find a consistent scoring forward, I think they have a serious shot at making things interesting till the end of the season…Maybe Linz should come back lol
