Unstoppable Pacos make Bwin Cup final

Nacional 3-4 Pacos de Ferreira

Pacos de Ferreira celebrationsPacos de Ferreira will play Benfica in the final of the Bwin Cup after beating Nacional 4-3 in Madeira last night.

The hosts started the brighter but it was Maykon who opened the hostilities in the 26th minute in fortunate fashion when his cross was deflected into the net by Nacional defender Felipe Lopes.

Nacional were soon level as Diego Barcellos shot home from distance. Pizzi for Pacos and Luis Alberto for Nacional then exchanged goals as the teams went into the half-time break at 2-2 in what was turning into a thriller.

Pacos came out all guns blazing after the interval. Rondon put Rui Vitoria’s team ahead for the third time as he followed up on Leonel Olimpio’s powerful shot that Nacional goalkeeper Bracali spilled. Rising star Pizzi then scored his second shortly before the hour mark to put the visitors within touching distance of the final.

Nacional threatened a late comeback when Thaigo Gentil converted a penalty with five  minutes remaining, but Pacos held on. The Castores have now won six successive games and are unbeaten in 11 matches in 2011.

The final of the Bwin Cup will take place in Coimbra on 23 April.

First sorry for this comment not pertaining to the Pacos victory which was certainly well well deserved. But a big issue is on the horizon concerning Portuguese Futeball.

Big General Assembly meeting on March 19 where association leaders of Portuguese footy, FPF have to amend statutes or vote to amend cetain statutes in accordance with Fifa and UEfa. Something about the vote has to be 75 percent plus one vote when the meeting with Executive commitee on 19th takes place.

Now if FPF can not reach 75 percent needed plus 1 on amending statutes then action to Emergency Committe will be taken which would result in Portugal NT being unable to play In Euro 2012 regardless if they did win group or came in playoff place. Also all Portuguese clubs would be facing 2 year ban in Europe which would mean no Champions League next year or Europa League for any club,; Porto Benfica doesnt matter. Sepp Blatter came ouit other day and said this was troubling issue.

So basically if we dont get the percentage needed and last one was 70.6 where as they need 75 percent plus one, then we are in very real danger of our NT being barred From Euro 2012 and the no European play for any clubs.

Ive been reading all this from rtp.pt abola had write up yesterday. Just today I read on rtp.pt that Lawrence Pinto from Association of Porto said he would vote against amending statutes, and then he goes on to say that if Fifa were to penalize clubs and NT THEY would be in violation of Portuguese law and Electoral Code of Fifa.

I dont understand this legalise but it sounds like these old stubborn men like the Laurentino Dias, Gilberto Madail and Mr. Pinto could leave Portuguese footbal in a dark and scary place.

So what do you gentleman think ? HOW realistic is it that our NT and clubs could be severely punished? I thank you guys in advance and maybe Ill here back from you. Thanks again
Disappointed..

I knew it was a long shot but I was hoping Nacional could make it to the final and win their first trophy in portuguese football

They only have the best links for Portuguese games. I definitely use them for any Liga games and Portugal national team games. Also, they usually have a few of the other big weekend games on as well.

All the best to Pacos in the final, I'm sure the whole country will be rooting for them apart from SLB fans.

If this game was on www.atdhenet.tv then I would of watched this game for sure but they didn't have it posted by the looks of the scoreline it must of been a intense game but instead I watched Real Madrid destroy Malaga 7-0.
