Carvalho sets sights on Real Madrid move: “Chelsea are obliged to release me”Defender wants Mourinho reunion Chelsea’s Portuguese international Ricardo Carvalho has stated that he would relish the chance to link up with former coach Jose Mourinho by moving to Spanish giants Real Madrid. Carvalho, 32, has been the subject of strong transfer speculation in recent weeks, with European champions Internazionale linked with a move for the stopper. With Chelsea apparently open to the idea of cashing in on the former Porto man, Carvalho admits it would be a huge attraction to re-join former Dragons boss Mourinho at the Santiago Bernabeu. “If there was a chance to sign for Real Madrid, I would happily swim or run there,” Carvalho told Madrid daily AS. “Chelsea have an obligation to let me leave this summer, for reasons that both I and those responsible at the club know. “It would be a dream to play for Real Madrid, which I consider to be the best club in the world, and to work for the best coach in football history. With Mourinho I experienced two wonderful stages at Porto and Chelsea. To have the chance to win another Champions League with him at Real Madrid would be fantastic. “I have spent six spectacular seasons at Chelsea and have had the chance to have glory at this club, but I repeat that joining Madrid would be a dream. I am grateful to Roman Abramovich for signing me and making me a part of Chelsea’s project for six years. He has been very important for English football and for Chelsea, which has now become one of the world’s best clubs.” Carvalho won 14 titles under Mourinho at Porto, including the Champions League in 2004. When asked about the fact that he is older than a lot of the other reported defensive targets being considered by Real Madrid, Carvalho added: “I am in the best stage of my career, because I am physically well and have lots of experience.” By Sean Gillen || || |

Chelseas seems to be purging itself of their high salary's, so I can see him going. Real would seem the perfect fit as well.
Carvalho and Pepe would man the middle and Ramos would move out wide.
As for Portuguese players staying home to play, we can't have it both ways. The facts are that Portuguese clubs can't pay the salaries that are needed to keep these players. The TV, merchandising, and sales within the league is not high enough to maintain them.
Lets be happy that Portugal is well known throughout the world, in having world class players. Not too bad for a country of 10 million.
Best wishes Carvalho!! I'll be looking forward to watching you play.
Well, Real Madrid is lucky enough to work Carvalho and with the best club manager in the world and I wish Real Madrid luck in La Liga.
Sounds like Portugal has become the breading ground for Great Footballers and a steeping stone to Europe for South American players.
The Portuguese Football clubs need to keep some of the good players and show the world that Portugal can compete wiht the greats of Real , Barca, Chealse and Man U.
