Deco/Bosingwa react to Scolari sackingMidfielder "shocked" by Brazilian's departure![]() Portuguese internationals Jose Bosingwa and Deco took time out from their preparations with the national team to give their reactions to the sacking of club manager Luiz Felipe Scolari at Chelsea. The former Portugal boss was dismissed after just seven months in the job yesterday, following a poor run of results and performances at Stamford Bridge. Although media speculation has suggested that frustration among the playing squad was a factor in Scolari’s departure, both players appear somewhat surprised by the development. “Scolari is a good coach and he should have been given more time to get the project right,” said Deco, who arrived in London from Barcelona over last summer, but after a bright start has found life difficult in the Premiership of late. "I was shocked when I heard the news; I almost could not believe it. The reason I came to Chelsea was to play for Scolari. He explained the ambitious project they had here and I decided to sign and rejected a lot of other offers." Meanwhile, another Scolari signing, right-back Bosingwa, who moved from Porto at the end of last season, has hinted that he expected the Brazilian to be given more time to turn around the Blues fortunes. "During the last few weeks I noticed a difference in Scolari. He's been under more pressure and without the usual smile on his face on the training ground. It was a surprise to me but it's normal when the results are bad that the coach's reputation is damaged. It's just the same here as in any country with managers being sacked. I didn't think it was like this in England before I came." By Sean Gillen Add your comment |
