Video: Petit scores as Cologne thrash HannoverHannover 1-4 Cologne Former Portugal international Armando Petit scored his first goal of the season this afternoon as Cologne pulled clear of relegation trouble in Germany with a convincing victory over Hannover.
The visitors raced into a three-goal lead inside 27 minutes at the AWD Arena, and the resulting 4-1 win means Cologne are now eight points clear of the drop zone. It was the team’s first three points in the Bundesliga since January, and ends a seven-match winless run in the German top flight. On-loan Manchester United winger Zoran Tosic opened the scoring after eleven minutes, and Petit doubled Cologne’s advantage on the 20-minute mark. The former Benfica man made a well-timed run into the box, where he latched on to a throughball from compatriot Maniche and finished with his left foot. There were two other Portuguese involved in the match, with Maniche joining Petit in the Cologne midfield and Sergio Pinto in the Hannover side, although he was replaced after just half an hour. Maniche on the other hand apparently had a fallout with Queiroz, due to the fact that he (Maniche) got called up to the WC Qualifier against Hungary but wasn't even on the bench.
