Ze Castro signs permanent deal with Deportivo La Coruna

Club pay €2m Euros for Portuguese

ze castroPortuguese defender Ze Castro has completed his widely-anticipated permanent move to Deportivo La Coruna, signing a four and a half year deal with the Galician outfit.

The 25-year-old stopper has been on-loan at the Riazor Stadium since the summer from Atletico Madrid, where he had struggled for playing time following a 2006 move from Academica.

Having impressed in the opening half of the campaign, Depor made steps towards sealing a permanent deal for Ze Castro last month, opening negotiations to exercise an option on the player. The transfer has cost the club €2m, which was the fee stipulated in the original deal last summer.

Currently out with a muscle injury, Ze Castro was originally set to take part in the Portugal B squad’s match with Romania last week, but was ruled out. The player is, however, expected back shortly to assist Depor in their fight for a European place.
