They did it the hard way, but Portugal got the win they needed against Denmark to keep their Euro 2012 fate in their own hands ahead of the final Group B match against Holland on Sunday. PortuGOAL reporter Nathan Motz caught up with some of the Portugal squad after the match for their reaction.
When asked how he felt about getting on the scoresheet, Hélder Postiga insisted he was more concerned about having got the victory. “I’m happy but it’s more important to get the win,” said the Zaragoza striker.
Likewise, Miguel Veloso admitted that “we knew we had to get the win. In the last game against Germany we had no luck and today we made lots of opportunities and the win was very important for us.”
Back-up goalkeeper Beto emphasised that although under heavy pressure, “we dealt with it in the best way.”
Naturally, Denmark’s star man Christian Eriksen was in a far more downbeat mood. The talented midfielder said: “when we got back to 2-2 we thought we could go for the third goal, but now we have nothing.”

If CR or Mireles or someone else screws up there are the rest of the players to make it up. Team Spirit!! Two lessons to learn from our opponents the past 2 games. From Germany- How organized, disciplined and effective they were in getting the goal. Gomez showed how as a star you have to raise the bar for the moment of brilliance. From Denmark- Even though the Danes were in Top gear with 3 points before the game their never die attitude yesterday from leveling the score.
Come on Portugal this Euro seems a mix bag with all the teams. No team have impressed so far. We can win the Euro 2012.
I'm happy to see all our men playing for the jersey! That spirit can only be found among the germans...and now it's Portuguese!
