Joao Silva quick to impress at Everton

Young striker praised by Phil Neville

Joao SilvaFormer England international and Everton captain Phil Neville has given a ringing endorsement to the club’s new Portuguese signing Joao Silva. 
 
Silva was snapped up by the Premier League team after scoring 14 goals in 30 games in a highly promising debut year for Desportivo das Aves in the Liga Vitalis (Portugal’s second tier) last season.
 
“He’s an exciting signing. Joao is really quiet but he’s showed real quality as a striker. Even though he’s Portuguese, he plays like an English style centre-forward and he’s impressed everybody with his aerial ability,” said Neville, who added that Silva is also doing a fine job of adapting to his new colleagues and surroundings.
 
Silva only recently turned 20 years old and has already been tipped as “the new Pauleta” by some Portuguese pundits. Pauleta never kicked a ball in his home country’s top flight, something that Silva may mirror should his career take off in England.

You can go to the website tvgolo.com and in there you search about Liga Vitalis's games (2º portuguese league) then you see Desp. Aves games. Joao scores in almost every games. He was the number 19. There are some fantastic goals.

We need Joao to develop into a solid striker for our national team. I hope he gets the chance to grow at Everton and to get some playing time. The good thing is that Everton doesn't really have any marquis forwards, unless you consider Louis Saha to be that good. At 6'2 this guy could be exactly what the national team needs. A strong, tall CF to compliment our solid defensemen. Can't wait to see how this story ends.

The best thing about this move is that Everton is a great club with strong support from the fans all the way to the owner. Great coach and when you can play against some of the best clubs in the world on a weekly basis, you can't help but to improve. Imagine this kid going up against Manchesters D and Chelseas and a few others. It is nice to know that he has some size too which always helps when you play against some teams with those trees like Ivory,Brazil,Germany and so on have.

This is probably one of our few hopes for a striker in the next couples years. I agree that he is a good situation with a good coach like Moyes and playing for a side between the upper and middle of the EPL gives him chances to succeed.

I have my doubts about Yannick and Orlando Sa so this guy may be the ONE but as much as I admire Pauleta I hope he able to score against good competion and not just minnows like Pauleta.

I would be so damn happy if this kid can become a great goal scorer for the seleccao!!!!!! I am trying to find videos of him on youtube and their is nothing at all.

David Moyes is a superb manager, always willing to give his younger squad members a chance. Hopefully he will develop Joao Silva into something special.
