“I’ll be a Portista forever”
Deco says thanks for the memories
 Back in Brazil after marvelling Europe with nigh on a decade and a half of brilliant football, Deco has expressed satisfaction at his career on the old continent, particularly his time playing for Portugal and FC Porto.
“In the time I spent in Europe the only thing that I didn’t win was something with the Seleccao. That Euro 2004 final was the worst defeat of my career,” he said.
The midfield playmaker was also a crucial component of the Portugal team that finished fourth in the 2006 Germany World Cup, and much has been made of the former Barcelona and Chelsea player having no natural successor in the national team. Deco himself is confident a player will soon appear.
“A new Deco? I don’t believe this will be a problem. New players are always appearing and somebody will come along for this position. It’s not my job to say who. Somebody will come up; it’s just a question of waiting to see who grabs the opportunity.”
Golden Porto years
Looking back on his club career, Deco admitted that nothing betters his time at FC Porto under the tutelage of Jose Mourinho. “My career in Europe had more highs than lows. In general I take excellent memories from Europe, principally from my relationship with Portugal.
“Everything I experienced at FC Porto and in the Seleccao is unforgettable, but I also had good years at Barcelona and Chelsea. I will be a Portista forever. It was a club that I learned to love and where I learned a lot. It gave me everything and FC Porto will stay with me forever.
“I remember the reception I got last year when I went to play there with Chelsea, with a lot of people singing my name. It was one of the most emotional moments of my career.”

In my opinion he should won the Ballon d'Or over Shevchenko in 2004 it's was bulls***. Also, that I might add such a decorated player he's the was the next best playmaker since Rui Costa.
So much memories with the Seleccao good and bad where to begin. Deco's first international against Brazil in the old Porto stadium and I will never forget CQ leaving him on the bench when we needed for Spain in the WC.
Graeme Souness a idiot for letting him go, but you know what i'm just glad he turned out great for Seleccao.
