Panathinaikos? No problem - Ukra

Porto forward excited about possible move

ukra.jpgPlaying in Greece would not be an issue for FC Porto forward Ukra as the Portugal U21 starlet would jump at the chance to join Greek giants Panathinaikos.

It was reported ealrier that the Trifylli were very much keen on making Ukra a member of their squad, but not certain as to whether the club wanted the youngster on loan or permanently.

But word has got back to Ukra and the Porto academy product allegedly told Greek daily Goal Neews that he would not hesitate at making a move to the Athens side.

"I know of Panathinaikos' interest and I would have no problem playing in Greece," declared Ukra. "If there is a prospoal that is good for me and FC Porto, why not?"

"I don't know if it would be for a loan or a permanent transfer, but I would have to explore all possibilities. What I want is to play and I know that at Porto it will be hard to get opportunities. In any case, Porto have not communicated anything official to me about Panathinaikos."

Should a deal materialise, Ukra will link up with Portuguese international Daniel Fernandes as the goalkeeper moved from Bochum earlier this summer.

It Ain't Just About Playing Time...

Its about cultivating a comfortable atmosphere for the youth to develop in. Most young players need the familiarity of their home to help them play well on the pitch. A young player's development relies more heavily on their mood and surroundings. If they feel out of place, they lose confidence and thus play badly. More than anything in football, you've got to admit that a player's mood is the most vital. Just look at the shift in Nani's form... it only came when he started to feel at home at United.

Good comment, i agree...a player's development is directly related to the playing time he gets,so if in greece he gets that playing time than by all means loan him out.lets not forget bruno alves played a couple of seasons in greece and look at the player he turned out to be.so,in conclusion, the representatives of porto, in their respective positions, know what is best for the development of our players,so let them do their job.in the case of ukra, it's a bonus that he is willing to go out on loan,he is looking after his own personal development. To put it out there for all the critics of porto developing portuguese players, have a look at our national team over the last 2 decades. i dont think id be far off if i said up to 70% of the players have donned the porto shirt.
Disgrace?

Porto are disgracing Portugal??? Porto and every other club, has no responsibility to any national team. They have a responsibility to their fans and to shareholders. I want to see Ukra in blue and white as bad as anyone but if Porto know he won't have a chance to play and develop because he will never get into the team ahead of Varela and Rodrigues then they have to do what's best for the player and the club.
Go for it Ukra!
