No money, no papers - PortellBanfield have not received any payments for James Rodriguez FC Porto will not be able to use the services of new recruit James Rodruguez as his former club, Banfield, have claimed that they have not yet received a single cent for the Colombian and are thus refusing to release the player's certificates.
Club president Carlos Portell spoke with Renascenca and stated that the Argentine outfit have not seen any money enter the organsation's accounts and therefore cannot release Rodriguez's papers, clearing the forward to play in Porto's official matches. The Dragoes agreed to pay 5.1 million euros for 70% of the player's rights and have declared that the money has been sent, but Portell says otherwise. "In Banfield's account there has been no installment of the transfer of James Rodriguez," said Portell. "Until an amount is deposited the AFA (Asociacion del Futbol Argentino) will not release the player's international certificates." "Porto have said, yes, that they have paid and sent us the guarantees that they paid, but in our account, nothing shows that they have. Sometimes it takes days (to clear) as the process is complicated." by Marco Pereira |

If they want to bail on the deal, they didn't.
It happens more often than we know or think.
"FC Porto has sent us a statement to transfer the amount on the first part of the transfer. The problem is that today is a holiday in Argentina, so the banks are closed and the services do not work. We have to wait. International transfers usually take two days. When money is available in the account, there will be no problem." said yesterday Carlos Portell, president of Banfield.
Get real... Is the money lost?? 5 million Euros...???
