Porto agree to sell Lucho Gonzalez to Marseille

Ligue 1 side break bank for midfielder

luchoFrench club Marseille have reportedly agreed a €17m fee for FC Porto’s Argentine midfielder Lucho Gonzalez, with personal terms all that is left to be finalised in order to seal the transfer.

According to Porto-based daily O Jogo, Marseille director general Antoine Veyrat was in Portugal on Saturday, and left having thrashed out a club-record 17m Euro deal for Lucho. The fee could rise by one million per season that the midfielder is at the Velodrome, meaning a potential total of 21m Euros.

Marseille will meet with Lucho’s representative, Marcelo Simonian, tomorrow, and will place an offer of a four-year contract worth €2m per season without tax. The salary would represent a slight increase on Lucho’s current deal at the Dragao, and the Ligue 1 club are confident that the player will agree terms in the next couple of days.

Gary, Porto was guilty of corruption? Where? They were relegated this year? Which games? League Cup final of the last year? During the fascist regime? Trapattoni's season?

Who was the filthy club that made false accusations and last year tried to play champions league by the secretary? (and then they lost 5-1 with olympiakos on uefa cup).
Who can respect filthy and opportunistic clubs that don't respect other clubs and do not have arguments inside the pitch to won them? What a shame... keep going. If Benfica doesn't won that's referee guilty, because they always play well ahahahahah
amazing, maybe you watch the chinese league instead of the portuguese

You have great future as a comedian!
But I will help you. Try to check Porto old news, you will arrive to the brillant conclusion that big part of "Porto supporters that dresses in red" writes beautiful and sensible things about Porto all the time. By the way, football does not have nothing to do with baseball ;)

As a regular visitor of this website, I was getting tired of this super clever and realistic comments. If Porto wons something, "they are corrupts" (like Lucilio Baptista or the "antigo regime"?). If one player leaves "now Porto will suffer because he was the best" (but before he was worst than the brillant Bynia). If don't leave "is not good, nothing wants him" (like the star Di Maria). If they're interested in one player "Benfica was interested first", or "is not good, he's a flop". This kind of childish comments all the time is a little bit tiring no?

But of course, to be happy and won titles I need wake up everyday thinking on "third position club", especially on their smarter supporters that honestly, makes me happy every season. Thank you Benfica. Thank you Filipe Vieira. Keep going ;)
Oh Miguel!

Did Benfica hurt you in some capacity? What's wrong buddy? Need a hug? All this negativity towards Benfica isn't healthy. For a team that is so small, in your opinion, you sure have a lot of bad things to say, especially in an article that has nothing to do with the team.

You love Porto? That's great, but remember that this team was guilty of corruption. Enough said.

Yeah, I really don't know why he wants to leave Porto unless he wants the money. He was doing great there and he is a talented player.....and let's be clear on one important thing: EVERY player is overpriced nowadays. The players agents are realizing that they can get a lot more for their clients than in years past.
He did play very well for Porto in the Champions League last year. I wish he would stay with them but it looks like there might be several Porto players on the move this summer.
Amazing Lucho

Lucho is a great player and I hope that stays in Porto. He deserves a better team than FCPorto, and OM isn´t better than Porto. Just look to Porto's performance last 20 years and compare with OM or OLyon.
Lucho isn't overpriced, he won two trophies this season (and more trophies last seasons). And last Champios League played excellent matches and, over all, player the unlucky quarter-finals for Porto. Ah! And it is the captain and a symbol for Porto fans. Ah! And did many international games with Argentina.

I do not understand some people from Canada that maybe do not see well what happens in Portugal or in Europe, but Lucho isn't overpriced. For exemple, Benfica doesn´'t have any player with the quality and avaliation of Lucho. Just look to their last results at the Campeonato and Uefa Cup (5-1 with Olympiakos? Lost with Metalist, sorry if I do not write well the club's name). With that "big team", with "much" money... what they did? Who really get with more value then before?

But of course. Now Benfica is again champions of the pre-season. Everybody is enthusiastic about the players that are coming. It looks like they will win everything this year, again...
But at the final.......... the laugh of Portugal. The past and the "populism" didn't won trophies. But Lucho won in Porto.

(I hope that this comment will be published please. That's not fine when you write for nothing)
Thanks and congratulation for the website!
Not worth it.

Lucho is not worth that kind of money. He's a good player but it's overpriced tag.
