FC Porto are more recognisable - Pereira

Uruguayan full-back does not regret decison

alvaro_pereira.jpgAlvaro Pereira does not, for one second, feel that he made the wrong move to push aside Benfica's overtures in favour of FC Porto as the defender is more than comfortable with the decision he made.

The South American surprised many when he signed with the reigning Portuguese champions after it looked certain that Pereira was going to make the switch from CFR Cluj to Benfica.

But all that changed within a matter of weeks as Porto seemingly stole the defender from under Benfica's noses and  announced the capture of the Uruguayan themselves.

Now Pereira has come out and wanted to set the record straight as the full-back has not yet had the opportunity to explain why he changed his mind when he publicly admitted his fervour for an "important team" when Benfica made a move for him.

Porto "spectacular"

"It was not (done) in five minutes, you are misinformed - it was four and it was even better that it was like this," stated Pereira at Porto's training complex at Olival.

"A lot has been written which does not correspond to the truth. FC Porto made a better offer and I accepted it. Afterwards, I understood that I made the right choice and realised the reality that this is the most important club in Portugal."

"I am not disputing Benfica's greatness, but the recent past and present shows that FC Porto are the biggest club in Portugal and abroad. FC Porto are a spectacular club."

Pereira is a formidable player. I'm from Cluj and I saw him playing for CFR. He his so natural in doing well on the pitch that you have the impression of watching a giant of football. Maybe he is.

Apparently lyon are intrested in Cissokho, even if he stays it always good to have a back up like Pereira and i think benfica needed a player like him to fill in that vacant spot, after letting go Leo
Força Porto

Porto
Porto will probably be selling Cissokho before the transfer window closes. However, if he does end up staying, it would be a lovely "problem" to have! Porto are in a class above Benfica and there really is no argument about it.
Two left backs...

If having two solid left backs is a "problem" then thats a great problem to have! And lets be honest, whether Cissokho is overrated or not - either Cissokho or Pereira would start for Benfica - any benfiquista who denies that is either lying or misinformed!!! Forca Porto!!!

I didn't even want him at Benfica anyways. He's not even that good as some people think. I'm glad he didn't sign. Now it's Porto's problem. So I guess he suppose to take overated Cissokho's position, but now Porto has two left-backs, also their problem.
