Falcao snatches point for 10-man Porto at Pacos de Ferreira

P.Ferreira 1-1 FC Porto

Pacos de Ferreira came to within thirteen minutes of a surprise win over FC Porto this evening, but a goal on his league debut for substitute Radamel Falcao earned the champions a point at the Estadio da Mata Real.

Pacos led for much of the afternoon through Ricardo’s 11th-minute goal, and despite summer recruit Fernando Belluschi going close on two occasions for Porto, the sending off of Hulk for two bookable offences ten minutes into the second period gave the visitors a tough task to avoid a shock opening day defeat.

However, Falcao, who arrived in the summer from Argentine club River Plate, headed in a Jorge Fucile cross on 78 minutes to draw Jesualdo Ferreira’s men level. The Colombian had been introduced at the break in place of Raul Meireles, while the Porto coach had also thrown on Silvestre Varela and Tomas Costa in place of Argentine duo Belluschi and Ernesto Farias.
