Kleber transfer falls through

FC Porto refuse to meet Brazilian striker’s contract demands

KleberThe transfer of Cruzeiro striker Kleber has been dramatically aborted just 24 hours before the winter market closes. Ernesto Farias, who went in the opposite direction as part of the deal, has already been summoned to return to Portugal.

Everything seemed to have been agreed on Friday when Porto stated that the signing would be completed when Kleber arrived in Portugal and did his medical at the weekend.

However, the Portuguese champions have now officially announced that “because agreement was not reached regarding the duration of the contract and the remuneration, the employment contract between Futebol Clube do Porto and the player Kleber Giocomazzi de Sousa Freitas will not be signed.”

It is believed Kleber and his agent, Giuseppe Dioguardi, made additional demands in relation to that agreed in principle, and FC Porto were not prepared to yield.

Sapunaru returns to Romania

Another player who appears to no longer be in Jesualdo Ferreira’s plans, at least for the rest of this season, is Romanian defender Sapunaru. The right-back is set to return to his home country to sign a six-month loan deal with Rapid Bucharest.
