Bundesliga round-up: Fernandes’ Bochum climb move out of bottom threeBremen continue lull Daniel Fernandes was in goal for VFL Bochum as his side came from behind to record an impressive 2-1 home win over Schalke, which lifts them out of the relegation zone. Kevin Kuranyi had put Schalke ahead, but struggling Bochum equalised just before half time through Mimoun Azaouagh, and Christoph Dabrowski got what proved to be the winner on 57 minutes to lift the team up into 15th place and clear of the drop zone. Hugo Almeida was substituted early in the second half of Werder Bremen’s 1-1 draw at home with Gladbach. The draw means Bremen now have just one point from their three matches since the resumption of the Bundesliga following the winter break, and last season’s runners-up remain in 10th place. Cologne are one place behind Bremen in 11th as, with Armando Petit playing the full ninety minutes in midfield, they were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Karlsruhe. The highest scoring game of the weekend in Germany saw Hannover, with Sergio Pinto playing the full match, share the spoils with Stuttgart following a 3-3 draw. Finally, Ricardo Costa watched from the bench as Wolfsburg moved up into sixth place with a 2-0 win at Frankfurt. By Sean Gillen Add your comment |
