"I'm expecting another victory" - MachadoGuimaraes boss sets standard for team Vitoria Guimaraes will have their biggest test to date when they host defending champions Benfica on Friday and for their coach Manuel Machado, a victory against the Lisbon giants is not out of the question.
Machado is not counting Benfica's opening losses as a reason why the Aguias are ripe for the picking, but that his team are coming together at the right time as this match approaches. "The two less positive results of our upcoming adversaries does not diminish the potential that is at the coach's disposal. Benfica, practically, have the same players that were the body of their brilliant season last year," said the Guimaraes tactician. "Before the match in Madeira (3-1 victory versus Nacional), the scenario also was of great difficulty but that did not stop us getting a win." "I expect Vitoria to confirm their growth and believe in themselves because we also have a group that has their own strong arguments. I'm expecting another victory because that is what we are ambitioning for." Keep up to date with all the latest news on Portuguese football with the PortuGOAL Twitter! Add your comment |
