Mourinho: “My final day at Inter”

Portuguese ready to bid farewell to Italy

After watching his Internazionale players lift the Champions League to complete an historic treble, Jose Mourinho confirmed what many have predicted - that he is almost certain to now leave Inter for Real Madrid.

Diego Milito’s brace gave the Nerazurri a well-deserved 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich at the Santiago Bernabeu last night, ending a 45-year wait for the club to reclaim the title of European champions. The triumph was also the last piece of an unprecedented treble, with Mourinho leading Inter to become the first Italian team to achieve Serie A, Coppa Italia and Champions League success in the same year.

However, it is likely to be the Portuguese’s last act on the Inter bench, with Mourinho now set to replace Manuel Pellegrini at the Santiago Bernabeu for next season, where he could become the first ever manager to win the Champions League with three different clubs.

“I want to point out I have not spoken to anyone from Real Madrid, nor do we have a deal,” he said. “They are the only club that can tempt me away and give me that new challenge. I reserved the right to take a few days and make my own decision on my future.

"I admit I shed a tear at the final whistle, as there is sadness that this is my final day at Inter.

“We have won everything, there is nothing more. We won all the Italian trophies and the Champions League, which to me is more important than the World Club Cup or European Super Cup.

“Perhaps they won’t treat me any better in Spain, but it is a new challenge for me. I want to win the League in the three biggest nations and win the Champions League with three different clubs.

“But who knows, tomorrow morning I might wake up and decide I want to win a third consecutive Scudetto!

“We deserved the victory in an historic stadium. Everything here feels like history and this Champions League night will always bring a tear to our eyes when we think back on it.”

With him, the Real Madrid "circus" from last 4 years will finish and will start a new era. No more the era of marketing and untouchable divas. Now begins in Real a new era of hard working, respect and winning culture. I've never tought that Mourinho was compatible with Real Madrid, that's an hard challenge but he can make it!

Congratulations Mourinho for the new achievements and keep it up! Thanks for everything. I'm a huge fan of Mourinho since first days on my FCPorto, a truly legend!

jose mourinho going to real madrid is awsome, he will help out alot and bring some trophys back to real madrid including the C.L., and the fact that he could also help ronaldo become a better player if thats possable,mourinho's smartness and ronaldo's skills is gonna be very threating i just hope mourinho dosen't do to cristiano what he did to quaresma's career that would be tragic!

i hate mourinho so much because hes always trying to say something bad about portugal and portuguese players,,, but i must admit that he is clearly the best coach atm

Part of me would like Jose to remain at Internazionale and try to be the first club to win consecutive CL titles since the new format. But the challenge at Madrid seems too intriguing to ignore.
And what a challenge it will be. La Liga will probably be more difficult to win than the CL. Inter really slacked off towards the end of Serie A and just managed to hang onto the title. No such luxury in Madrid.
And as others have mentioned, let's see how the players buy into his system of defending 1-0, 2-0 leads. Will Ronaldo defend the way Eto'o has?

When he goes to real madrid he will help them out defensively which was a problem for them this year. As for Ronaldo they have some history of not liking each other and I think Ronaldo will get on his nerves. Ronaldo loves attacking and mourinho wants players to get back and while Ronaldo does that, it is not to often. Quaresma and Ronaldo are not to much different other than ronaldo has a bit more speed and plays with a lot of luxury knowing that he can dribble players and shoot whenever. I think that we are going to see them clash a couple times next year.
Coach + Ronaldo doesn't exactly mean success...

The more that the NT relies on Ronaldo, the worse we become. After all, wasn't that supposed to be one of Quieroz's strengths coming in?

Of course, it's ridiculous to compare Quieroz to Mourinho. But the less this team looks to Ronaldo, the better off they will perform.

Well deserved Mourinho... Good luck @ RM. Hopefully this will help Ronaldo to become an even better player. I love Ronaldo, but Mourinho will not take any of his bull on the field. This will help Ronaldo become more mature on the field.
