Video: Superb Makukula leads Kayserispor fight backKasimpasa 2-2 Kayserispor Ariza Makukula was once again decisive for Kayserispor in Turkey this weekend, scoring a fantastic individual goal to help Kayserispor come back from two goals down to earn a point at Kasimpasa.
The visitors fell behind after just one minute at the Recep Tayyip Erdogan Stadium, when Yekta Kurtulus opened the scoring in the first minute. Kasimpasa saw their advantage doubled at the same point of the second period, as Merthan Acil made it 2-0 less than a minute after the re-start. In desperate need of inspiration, Kayserispor were once again able to rely on Portuguese striker Makukula to get them back into the game on 50 minutes. The Benfica-owned forward controlled a long ball with his back to goal outside the area, before beating his marker with some neat footwork and finding the bottom corner with a precise low finish. Makukula’s efforts looked to be in vain, as Kayserispor went into the final minute behind, but Abdullah Durak completed the comeback with a last-gasp equaliser to keep the team in a top-four position and in the running for a Europa League qualification place. I saw the video of the goal today. It was a good goal and he looks like a beast out there. In the Turkish League, he is imposing his will physically on any defender in his path.
On this form, I'd still like to see him go to the world cup but it looks as if his chance may have passed him by.
