Makukula nets goal no.20Kayserispor 1-2 Manisaspor Ariza Makukula scored his 20th league goal of the season yesterday, but it was not enough to prevent Kayserispor from suffering a disappointing home defeat to Manisaspor.
The Benfica-owned striker struck ten minutes from time to get his side back into the game, after the hosts had conceded twice in the second half. However, Kayserispor were unable to snatch an equaliser, and went down to their 9th defeat of the season. The loss all but ends any hopes Makukula’s men had of sneaking a European place, with eight points now separating them from 4th place in the Turckell Super Lig. Kayserispor are currently in 6th with 50 points from their 31 matches. By Sean Gillen |

Anyways the team should be filled with guys that have been playing and have had a successful season. The momentum will help the team. That’s why I don’t think Nuno or Quaresma should get called up. These guys have had little to no playing time this season.
---By the way, when has Almeida ever scored 20 goals in a top league? His best year was with Bremen in 07/08 where he netted 11 in 18 appearances.
Yes it is an inferior league. And yes he struggled with Benfica in the past. But to say that he doesn't deserve a spot over Almeida based in his current form is highly questionable, to say the least.
Almeida has 6 goals in 23 appearances with Bremen this season. Last season he had 9 goals in 27 matches. So this is what Almeida can do as a striker against high-level competition (i.e. not much).
I would rather take a gamble with Makukula before I would call up Almeida. We pretty much know what we are going to get from Almeida, mediocrity. Whereas with Maku at least you have the possibility of something special happening and if not, he probably wouldn't be much worse than Almeida anyway. This is all speculation, but I highly doubt that Almeida has the ability to dominate the Turkish league the way Makukula has. Call him up.
I'll be suprised if Makukula's on the squad, but if he is I think he'll be a good reserve option.
