Liga Zon Sagres schedule releasedFirst classico: Benfica host Sporting September 19 It is getting ever closer as the Portuguese league will commence in just over a month's time and the full schedule has been released. Here are some of the noteworthy match-ups for the year.
A full disclousre of all matches will be posted on the site shortly. Defending champions Benfica start at home against Academica while FC Porto and Sporting are on the road to Naval and Pacos de Ferreira, respectively. Many people's eyes will be focused on the meetings between the big three and matches involving last season's runner's-up Sporting Braga. Perhaps, more so than any of them will be Joao Moutinho's Alvalade homecoming with his new club FC Porto. With Braga playing their away games in the first half of the season could result in less excitement from them unless they create a few upsets or draws. I agree that the Moutinho drama will make the Sporting v. Porto game a must watch.
