Hulk on fire as Porto go clear at table top

Rio Ave 0-2 FC Porto

HulkHulk followed up his midweek hat-trick with a brace tonight as FC Porto beat Rio Ave 2-0 to continue their unblemished start to the 2010/11 season. A goal in each half by the Brazilian striker made it six wins out of six for Andre Villas Boas' side in all competitions.

The latest victim of the Dragons’ wrath was Rio Ave. Carlos Brito’s team often cause trouble for the big sides, especially when playing at home, but the Vilacondeses have had a poor start to the season and Porto rarely looked in danger of dropping points.

Midway through the first half Hulk latched onto an Alvaro Pereira cross and curled a well-placed shot into the net. The goal triggered a spell of heavy pressure from the visitors, with Belluschi, Falcao and Hulk all close to doubling Porto’s lead.

Penalty shout

Controversy struck on 39 minutes as Tarantini appeared to be tripped in the box by Alvaro Pereira. The referee did not see it that way as he turned down the penalty claims and booked the midfielder for supposed simulation.

Rio Ave improved after the break and Porto were grateful for the cushion of a second goal on 65 minutes. A swift attack saw the ball worked to Varela on the left, whose cross was expertly converted by Hulk.

To their credit Rio Ave did not let their heads drop and Yazalde was unlucky not to score a late consolation.

Hulk gratitude

Having scored five goals in two games Hulk is very much the man of the moment. After revealing that he has been going through “the hardest moment of my life” following the tragic death of a niece, the Brazil international expressed his gratitude for the support he has received from everyone at the club.

“It’s a great family we have here,” said the emotional forward in the post-match interview.

I guess ignorance is bliss.....just the fact alone that they have been brought to court on not1, not 2, but 3 sepereate occassions as you put it, should show you how corrupt they really are. The acquittals boil down to good lawyers, paid for by their stolen title winnings. Clearly, you don't get it. Regardless, I will tally the season to show you. You can do the same for SLB if you feel they get special priveledges too...LOL
The score currently again is: Porto 2 legit win, 1 cheated win

Pinto da Costa and Porto have been acquitted at each and every turn once the case has gone in front of a legitimate court and sport authority.... on not 1, not 2, but on 3 separate occasions, they were found not guilty... believe whatever you need to believe to explain why your team sucked a$$ for the last 3 decades...

enjoy your only championship for the next few years john... you're already 6 pts back....
wait....you wish

Thats exactly what Porto fans hope for.....that I and others will wait as these tiny game changers happen throughout the season. I am starting early so that in a 30 game campaign....it is evident how many games are influenced by that A*@hole PDC and so that everyone can clearly see why FCP have become the "self-proclaimed" best team of Portugal........the answer of course is by buying championships through corruption of officiating.
So Far: 2 legitimate wins = 1 corrupt win
I'll keep everyone posted all season long.
This may be the earliest....

....I've ever seen a Benfiquista already pull the "cheating" card. Jesus brother...we're 3 games into the season. Give it a rest. At least wait until around 25th game when it's evident Porto will be champions.
Denial!!!

I'll admit Porto is a good team, just as soon as they admit they have been corrupt in order to help them BECOME a good team. Basically, they have cheated there way to excellence in the last 25 years or so that PDC has been in charge. All the proof is more than evident, Porto fans just fail to admit it. IMO Porto should've been sent to the Liga de Honra with Boavista a few years back. But as proven by their recent mess up with Queiroz, The FPF don't have the gonads to do anything properly when it comes to justice in Portuguese football. Porto should be in the same situation as Juventus was and is. FCP will forever be BS in my book. I respect Braga alot more at this point.
I second that John looks like a fool

You guys are pathetic... when you lose, it's all a conspiracy meant to held you guys down... you guys are a joke... stop acting like little children and just admit that Porto have had a better start to the year, and you haven't...

this crap about the refs gets old and tiresome... and makes you all look like fools.
Porto wins = everyone else has to get ripped off

What a surprise!!!.......the referee fails to see what should be an easy and obvious penalty call against Alvaro Pereira at a point in the match where the tide could have easily changed. Seems to me the PDC has his dirty hands in the mix again in order to prevent Porto from falling back down to reality from their corrupt pedestal. And portistas moan that they don't steal anything.....LOL It's all these little moments that add up to winning a championship at year's end.....too bad Benfica will take down #33 instead of losing to this nausea-inducing club of cheats. FCP (Football Corrupters of Portugal)

Porto seem unstoppable. It definitely was a penalty but I guess that's what you get for adding the dramatic arm flail and everything. I'd love to hear someone argue now about how hulk isn't important to the team and the suspension last year had no effect on the season. This guy is a beast.
the incredible hulk
