Pacos continue sensational form

Pacos de Ferreira 1-0 Maritimo

Maritimo badgePacos Ferreira badgeA second-half goal from Bruno Di Paula pushed Pacos de Ferreira up into sixth place in the standings, fuelling the dreams of the modest outfit that they can qualify for European competition for a second successive season.

Not for the first time in recent weeks the Castores were indebted to a fine goalkeeping display by Coelho, who pulled off a series of excellent saves, particularly in the first half, to keep Maritimo at bay.

Six minutes into the second half Brazilian midfielder Bruno Di Paula scored the only goal of the game to maintain the magnificent form of Pacos, who have lost just one of their last 9 Liga Sagres matches, at the Estadio da Luz against Benfica.

With a relatively comfortable fixture list until the end of the season, coach Ulisses Morais will feel his side have an outside chance of snatching fourth place and the last Europa League qualification berth.

Maritimo, on the other hand, are in unfamiliar territory in the lower reaches of the table.
