Benfica versus Braga sold out days in advance

Rush on tickets for decisive Liga Sagres encounter

Estadio da LuzAlmost two weeks before the two teams do battle all 63,000 tickets made available for the Benfica versus Braga match have been snapped up. Feverish excitement is already palpable ahead of the game that brings together the two front-runners in the Liga Sagres.

Tickets were put on sale on Saturday and by Tuesday morning the last available ones had been snapped up. A full house will be in attendance at the Estadio da Luz at 8.15 pm on 27 March for a game that could go a long way to deciding who will be crowned Portuguese champions this season.

Braga have confounded all football analysts in Portugal by retaining their title challenge throughout 2009/10, while many believe Jorge Jesus has built the strongest Benfica team for over 15 years.

Benfica are three points ahead of Braga at this point in time, but would appear to have the more difficult fixture list. The Eagles still have to play Sporting and FC Porto, as well as Braga in the remaining seven rounds of the Liga Sagres.

Moreover, Braga could benefit from the fact they will have had two free weeks to prepare for the big match, whereas Benfica face tough battles against Marseille tomorrow in the Europa League, and FC Porto on Sunday in the final of the Carlsberg Cup.

Like Mdot I am a Benfica fan.. but do try to support all the teams in Portugal.

I do like to see them all do well, it makes for better matches.

This year Braga has played exceptionally and has to be applauded for their efforts.. in my mind they haven't cracked at all.. they have lost games but every good team does.. I think the pro Benfica fans like me just have wishful thinking.

Benfica did well away to Braga, at home i think they will have the advantage.. but with this team it can be all or nothing. Score 5 or 1. Either way it will be a great match, looking forward to it. It will still be an exciting finish either way.. may the best team win.
Braga...crack...i think not

Braga might lose the game, but i doubt they are going to crack. They didn't crack against Benfica earlier in the season. Braga has been handing losses to Porto, Benfica, and Sporting for the past 7 years since Antonio Salvador took over. They are definitely the 4th best performing team of the decade in the Portuguese League.

SLB should be worried, they have a much more difficult schedule left to play out. Maybe they will crack.

I think the reason is because I'm a Benfica fan LOL. I do try to give some credit to the other teams but yea I am a bit biased. In a perfect world Benfica would win everything and I would still like to see all Portuguese teams do well in Europe LOL.
this is braga's time

I think the Porto match 2 days after flying back from Marseille is where we will see the most fatigue. They have a good week to rest up and should be good for the Braga match. The best Benfica team in recent history vs. the best Braga team in all of their history. Should be a great match. I do think that Braga have shown to crack under pressure of attending a larger stadium. A packed house will make it one hell of a place to be.
