Video: Meireles scores again as Liverpool held by Wigan

Liverpool 1-1 Wigan Athletic

Raul Meireles continued his run of goalscoring form with another goal for Liverpool against Wigan this afternoon, but it did not prove enough to claim all three points as the visitors earned a draw.

Meireles, who scored the winner for his side in the 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last weekend, now has five goals from his last six matches. His latest strike came after 23 minutes, with the Portugal midfielder volleying in from inside the area to put Liverpool 1-0 up at Anfield.

The former Porto man was substituted through illness early in the second period, after which Wigan drew level in the 65th minute through Steve Gohouri. The away side held on for a point, which ends a four-match winning run for Liverpool, who currently occupy 7th place in the Premier League.

This guy just keeps on getting better. Jon, that's wild if he was suffering from the flu and still scored that goal.

This guy is one fire right now... has scored a goal almost every game for almost 2 months now. @Mikey - apparently he had the flu and was even barfing at halftime.

I'm starting to love how there is another Mereiles cracker every weekend. This guy is easily one of the top 5 midfielders in Europe. I don't know why Dalglish subbed him off so early though.
