Mallorca announce Bruno China captureDefender moving to Spain Mallorca have confirmed the signing of Leixoes defender Bruno China, who has agreed a three-year deal with the La Liga outfit.
Negotiations between the clubs had been ongoing this week, with the parties believed to be some way apart in their valuation of the 27-year-old. However, Mallorca today announced on their website the capture of the defender, who becomes their first signing ahead of the 2009/10 season. The move brings an end to China’s nine-year spell in the Leixoes first team, having come through the ranks at the Matosinhos club. Mallorca have not disclosed the amount paid for the player, but the fee is thought to be somewhere in the region of 400,000 euros. China is expected at the ONO Estadi on Monday to carry out routine medical examinations before sealing the transfer. He joins Jose Nunes at the Barralets, with the former Braga stopper currently the vice-captain at the club following a highly successful three-and-a-half years in Palma. While I think 400,000 is probably fair, Leixoes President has been running his mouth allo week about how none of his players are for sale and China would not leave for less than 2 million Euros... if its true that they let him go for 400,000 then the Leixoes Prez is a bozo. I understand posturing in the media to help with the negotiations, but the Prez said 2 million or no deal... he (Leixoes Prez) now has zero credibility with me.
Good move.

Bruno China has been at Leixoes his whole career, and he has done well. Moving to Spain will definately get the attention of the Seleccao. Wish him good luck.
