Van der Gaag wants win against PortoMaritimo coach wants players to think big Maritimo's bench boss Mitchell Van der Gaag has shown great competence since he took over in early October. During that time Maritimo have gone undefeated in league play and the verde-rubros will look to keep it that way when they host FC Porto this weekend.
Van der Gaag is under no illusion that the reigning Portuguese champions will be hard to beat, but if Maritimo want to be successful, according to the Dutch coach, the players should start thinking that three points is possible. "They (Porto) are a strong team, with quality, and they already have qualified for the next round in the Champions League and because of ths, it will be a difficult match for us. But it will be good also as it will be one more test for our team as we are playing at home against a big club," said the Dutchman. "We have to show the same attitude, dedication and work ethic each match. We must fight eye-to-eye, especially when we are at home, we must show the will to win. Clearly, against Porto it will be more difficult, but it is important to show our supporters that when we are at home, we have an enormous will to win." Add your comment |
