Van der Gaag demands focusMaritimo coach wants an end to lapses in concentration Coming off a draw against Belenenses last week, Mitchell van der Gaag would like to see his team pay more attention to the finer aspects of the game.
Maritimo coughed up two costly points last week when the Madeira side allowed a late goal in added time to see them finish with a 3-3 draw against the Blues. After succumbing to a 4-1 drubbing at the expense of FC Porto the week before, Van der Gaag has seen enough defensive errors and wants his pupils to make it right against Olhanense tomorrow. "We have trained on our defensive game throughout the week, namely on dead ball situations, as it is not admissable that a team does everything it has to do to win and then gives up a goal in the final minute of play from a dead ball situation. We need to raise our levels of concentration," said the Dutch tactician. "It will be a complicated match (against Olhanense). They are coming off of an away draw against Guimaraes. They are a strong team, with young, quality players who came from FC Porto and who need points to stay up." by Marco Pereira Add your comment |
