Nacional boost attack with Edgar

Brazilian beanpole striker returns to Portugal

EdgarNacional da Madeira have added to their attacking options by purchasing Edgar from Brazilian club Vasco da Gama. The former FC Porto striker has penned a four-year contract for the islanders.

It will be Edgar’s second spell in Portugal. After impressing for Beira-Mar in the 2006/07 season, where he even drew comparisons with the great Mario Jardel, both Benfica and FC Porto tried to entice the player, with the latter winning the race for his signature.

However, the 1.91m tall forward failed to make an impact at the Dragons and was soon moved on, playing for Academica on loan before moving to Red Star Belgrade in Serbia and eventually returning to Brazil.

The 22-year-old has now decided to re-launch his career with Europa Cup participants Nacional.
