Nacional coach Manuel Machado in intensive careDoctors take “induced coma” measure Manuel Machado remains gravely ill in the intensive care ward of The 53-year-old was hospitalised on Friday after undergoing a liposuction of the abdomen operation. What was supposed to be a routine procedure caused severe side-effects for Machado.
The coach was in a life-threatening situation over the weekend, but the indications are that Machado has now stabilised, although he is in a state of induced coma. A full recovery is expected to take many weeks or even months.
Assistant coach Jose Augusto is to take over first-team coaching duties until the end of the year.
