Madail: This is an outrage!

FPF president denies any wrong-doing with World Cup bid

fpflogo.jpgThe head of the Portuguese football federation, Gilberto Madial, has hit back at FIFA and news that Portugual/Spain are in collusion with Qatar in attemtping to land the 2018 World Cup.

Reports had surfaced in England (BBC & Daily Telegraph) that the two bidding parties had formed an alliance whereby they would each support one another in order to land the World Cup in the respective years they are bidding for.

FIFA's Ethics Committee has opened an investigation into the allegations and the news is sitting none too well with Gilberto Madail as he has utterly refuted any illegal collaborations or partnerships.

"We have received news that the Ethics Committe will be looking into allegations of an established accord between the Iberian and Qatar candidates to host the (respective) World Cups with surprise and outrage," stated Madail.

"We categorically deny that we have formed any kind of accord or alliance with any other candidates with regards to voting, which will decide who hosts FIFA's World Cups."

The FPF boss added that he thought the allegations of collusion had surfaced at a most peculiar time when FIFA executive members Amos Adamu and Reynald Temarii were exposed, and suspended indefintely, in a shocking scandal where they attempted to sell their votes in return for money.

"I find it strange that suspicions, albeit completely unfounded, have been launched at a time where attempts to sell votes which would contribute to hosting the World Cups have made public news."

England always follows their own rules based on a double standard. What's good for them is not good for anyone else. Haven't those peaople stole enough from us. First port wine, then the Algarve, and now they are trying to steal our worldcup bid.

Anyway, who would want to go to England anyway and eat that lousy food. Not even the farm pigs in Portugal would eat that slop they call food.

Bunch of limmey hypocrites....

Completely agree paulo/Us
Why is it ok for England to do it?
From the get go we all knew England was going to get it but thats fine since as soon as England loose in the group stages it'll make it all the better for us since they're at home.
The FPF...

I remember a few weeks ago that the US pulled its bid out for 2018 in order to support the English bid, so that in turn England would support the US bid for 2022. How is that not collusion!
This was applauded by FIFA

btw: why isn't the spanish FA under investigation it is a joint bid. FIFA likes to bully the small federations.

Throw the English bid out

The English keep making different issues up with FIFA and they've done it in the past. FIFA should kick out the English bid to teach these clowns to shut up.

Well, there goes the English media doing their part to ensure they will have a world cup at home to cover in 2018. The Iberian bid is basically done after this. Even if the allegations are completely unfounded, there is no way FIFA will want to be associated with even a suggestion of a biased decision.
Not good
