My Conclusion
12 Wednesday, 29 February 2012 23:03
Hugo Almeida is GARBAGE and should never start a game for Portugal EVER again! Yes sure Ronaldo could have squared for him, but Ronaldo was in a good position as well and had the right to shoot as well and he hit a very good shot which only a last finger tip dive to from Szcezny kept out. And then yea Nani should have squared for either Ronaldo or Almeida, but its not a big deal. WHAT exactly does Almeida contribute to the team! NOTHING! All he does is be lazy, and wait around at the top for somebody to flippin put it on a platter for him for a stupid tap in or a stupid header. Almeida is GARBAGE! Bento wasted 66 minutes of the game with Hugo Almeida playing! He does not ever link up dropping deep to get into the play to make some good passes or to beat a player one on one, or to make a nice assist or something. Hugo Almeida is flippin HORRIBLE! I hate him! There were two or more times when Ronaldo made greatly timed runs for long through ball crosses from Moutinho and Meireles and the ref had to blow offside cause Almeida's big retarded lazy self just stood there and didn't run back in time to be onside before the past. In my opinion , he does way more harm than good for us. He never moves and he slows down the play and he obstructs the play and ughhhh! He can't even trap the ball bring it under control and make a nice turn to play a pass to somebody! NOT ONCE in his 66 minutes of play did he do anything nice like that! He is a waste of time!!! Postiga came on and looked way better immediately. You could see it, POstiga would move fast, and he would pressure off the ball, and he would have nice touches and even turn on or two defenders before making a nice pass etc! Overall, Postiga is WAAYYY better than Almeida! I guess it was only a friendly and Postiga had started all of teh qualifiers so maybe Bento wanted to give Almeida a chance to see what he could offer, well clearly we can all know definitely say Almeida offers NOTHING! Get to the reserves piece of garbage! I was also upset that Nelson only only got the last 8 minutes of the game to show something! He deserved way more time than that. In his short time on the field we could immediately see that Nelson Oliveira is a player with class and skill to compliment his strength and pace. He had nice touches and made a nice dribble here and there and made good passes. He made two good passes and runs to Quaresma and he looked for a one two return, at one time He (Nelson) was in the box in a great position for a shot but the other IDIOT from Besiktas Quaresma delayed on the ball to show off his flippin stupid tricks nobody gives a damn about! Ughhh! Nelson deserved to get the ball back, he passed it looking for the return pass and was in the box on both occasions after making his run, and Quaresma took the time to do his selfish bull crap both times and didn't pass the ball to Nelson! I felt that if Nelson was given the return passes he would have gotten off good shots and possibly scored, because we all know he has a good shot as well! I understand it was just a friendly and Bento wanted to give opportunities to people , but Nelson Oliveira deserved the opportunity WAAAYY more than that garbage Almeida. Also Quaresma is trash and thank God he is a reserve, he will always just be a reserve as he produces nothing, adds nothing substantial to Portugal's game. If in the future Varela is fit again and Vieirinha in Wolfsburg returns to fitness too, I would definitely call up both of them ahead of Quaresma. They are both better team players and produce end product! Manuel Fernandes looked alright, but to me he still needed to try a little harder. Overall he looked alright, but I would say that from this opportunity he was given, that the best starting midfield trio is still Miguel Veloso, Raul Meireles, and Joao Moutinho. I would have liked to see Meireles in DM and Fernandes and Moutinho in front of him, but at no point in the game did we see that trio on at the same time, so for now based on what we saw, the best midfield trio is still Veloso, Meireles, and Moutinho! At least Nelson DID get a little time on the field even though it was so short, but I was fully impressed by his touches and movement and passing and running off the ball into dangerous areas! So hopefully Bento had his mind open and his eyes open and saw the OBVIOUS which is that the best strikers for Portugal are Helder Postiga, and Nelson Oliveira!! I believe that nelson has the potential to even be better than Postiga for Portugal, becaue he has the talent, but he needs to be given the gametime to prove it! Saying that, Helder Postiga is AMAZING for Portugal! When he pulls on his national jersey and has the top talent of the team around him, he shines and plays to his full ability and he really does a very very good job for us as the striker! So for now I would say that the pecking order should be number 1 Postiga, and number 2 Nelson Oliveira! I am very serious about this Almeida doesn't deserve to ever play for us again under any circumstances! He wastes our time and does NOT contribute anything to the team of his own ability. For him to score ANYTHING other players literally have to put the ball on a damn platter right in front of the goal for him. That is UTTER BULL crap football and shows no skill or talent in football. I am angry, but for a reason! I understand Bento maybe wanted to give him a last chance - well he's had it and thouroughly failed it! Hope Bento comes to this conclusion as well! The Present and the future is Helder Postiga and Nelson Oliveira! FULL STOP!

Another match proving that Bento's reign has been a total fluke. This guy is about to destroy the best chance Portugal has had at winning a championship. CR7, Nani, Moutinho, Pepe all in their primes. Our time is now and I will hate to see these players under achieve in their career because of horrible coaching.

Look at Bentos subs.. Nelson for Coentrao, Fernandes for Moutinho, Postiga for Almeida, Rolando for Pepe, Quaresma for C.Ronaldo, Oliveira for Nani.

All of these were stupid. Only Almeida or Postiga should have played, not both. Rolando should have replaced Alves as Quaresma should have backed up Nani.. and Oliveira only gets 10 minutes with lone Quaresma on the wings? Wtf? How do you explain that?

This coach is so damn pathetic. I also see Veloso lacks the pace. How do we fix it? Pepe covers DM, but wait Bento's personal issues *cough* Carvalho *cough* guess we cant do that.

PB is a sh*t coach this match was extremely frustrating to watch.
Moutinho

Today proved just how vital it is for us to have Joao playing. The second half was chaos without Moutinho and it is a complete joke he did not make the 2010 squad.

Nelson should not be in national team. He gave Poland a brake away and luckly Polska missed. Also had many poor passes. As for Rolando, it seems he was more confident in this showing.

But I must say, I thought the team played well. Poland took this game much more serious and it is good Portugal were able to hold together. If Portugal knocked in one of the chances early on, I think this game would be a landslide victory. The crowd gave Poland much strength.

that was his "chance" as unfair as it may be, it was obvious he didnt want to give him a real chance when he put postiga on.

also these players attitudes is a disgrace, how can you play for your country which is an honour when you think its all about you? (ronaldo, nani, quaresma)

i would rant on about this but i waste my breath every match after scolari left.

steps to correct our team to greatness again:
1:fire bento, loosen our wallets and hire a REAL foreign coach.

i dnt knw if many of you noticed but after he took off the main guys, by the time nelson went on, we didnt even have a formation.

2.fix egos

if you came here to be the "star" then send them home packing regardless of who they are. or bench them immediately if ur afraid to send ronaldo or nani home.

3.inspire the players

seems as if the new kids now dont care about giving it their all just because its a 'friendly' Why was our golden generation so great? not just because of immense skill but also because everyone had HEART to play to win, i can only name a handful of players that show that...

this is pathetic, it is an embarassment to the people who support portugal, but seems the FPF just dont care about anyone.

Glad to see the lion looking like a turtle when all the cameras focused on him(Bento).
can't win

Portugal played a great first half. The second half not very good, and all the substituions did little to help. Portugal should have scored a couple of goal, if not for a bit of selfish play from Nani, Ronaldo. I'm sure that Bento will get all the blame from all the mouth breather who come here and second guess every move he makes. Also all the Manuel Fernandez, Ricardo quaresma lovers....when are you going to wake and see that these guys were great youth players, but because of poor attitude never became the players that we all hoped. Ever wonder why both have played on so many teams? Quaresma didn,t play or do much...but Manuel played allot
...all he did was give the ball away all game. Last Nelson on the left was a disaster all game..he is not an option on that side of the field. Overall Portugal is on track!! Nice to see all the players hug the coach after every substituion!!!
Oliveira

Why wouldn't Bento give Nelson Oliveira a real chance to show what he can do? 10 minutes at the end of the second half when you've taken out Moutinho, Ronaldo, and Nani isn't really giving Oliveira a chance to show what he can do. It doesn't make sense.
1st Half
5 Wednesday, 29 February 2012 20:51
Portugal were looking good in the first 10 minutes but it has turned into an awful game thus far. First of all.. Almeida is a turtle. If we intend to press high up the pitch, he cannot be playing.

I've noticed Moutinho wandering out of position to apply that pressure and credit to him hes working hard but its leaves us exposed.

2nd. Coentrao gets injured.. replacing him with Nelson was a poor decision. Nelson is a natural right back and obviously not a very good two footed player. Bento has basically messed up his chance to impress.

Since the moron didnt call a back up like Silvio.. I would have shifted Miguel Veloso to LB and brought on Fernandes in the midfield.

3rd - Where is the teamwork? Nani has been selfish. Two good chances with a wide open Almeida and he goes for goal. Not impressed.

Please sub in Oliveira for Almeida and Fernandes for Meireles.
How do you spell Ball Hog

How do you spell Ball Hog ... NANI

If he thought of his team mates before himself we could be up by a pair of goals at halftime.
Foward
3 Wednesday, 29 February 2012 19:46
We still lack an explosive foward
Almeida?

I don't like the decision to go with Almeida as the starter one bit. Maybe Bento wanted a more physical option, but he really doesn't finish well enough to start in my opinion.
New Stadium

I want Portugal to win but its going to be harsh on Poland as they have a new stadium which will mean that they will be defeated in the first math at the fist game in the stadium.
