Rogerio Goncalves: It took me seconds to accept

New Naval boss delighted with return to former club

rogerio_goncalves2.jpgIt did not take long for Rogerio Goncalves to accept his old job at Naval as the Portuguese coach is excited and raring to get his third spell at the club underway.

The former Leixoes, Academica and Sporting Braga tactician was formally presented to the media today and confessed that it was a no-brainer for him to resume his old post with the Figueira da Foz club.

"This is a return to a house that I recognise well and that I like very much, and where people know me very well too" said Goncalves. "This is a place where I've had very good moments, just like at Varzim, but I spent more time here and managed to achieve some really nice things. I hope all goes well."

"Everything was resolved very quickly - it took seconds. Myself and the president (Aprigio Santos) are people who know each other very well. We want to ensure we stay in the top flight as quickly as possible."

"I will evaluate the squad, which I'm not familiar with all that well, but it is with these players that we will fight for our goals and I am confident that we will be able to achieve it."

It may also take seconds to get fired.

What else did he have going on.

The following was very telling and dare I say pathetic.

"I will evaluate the squad, which I'm not familiar with all that well, but it is with these players that we will fight for our goals and I am confident that we will be able to achieve it."

He basically states that he knows nothing about the squad that he's stuck with, but they'll get it done. LOL!
I understand that the club might not have the finances to go out and get new players for the new coach. And obviously Goncalves is aware that he's stuck with what he has.
Meaning that he already has a built in excuse should he be called back for a fourth stint after he's fired.
The question I ask, is how don't you let the previous new manager implement his tactics. Six matches was enough? If that's the case, whoever is doing the hiring has to to be questioned in regards to his decision making.
