Costa assumes underdog role

Olhanense boss tries to ease pressure by making Sporting favourites

jorge-costa-20090518.jpgOlhanense are feeling rather good about themselves these days as the club have made a huge effort to try and stay in the Portuguese top flight, after being absent for more than 30 years. But this weekend might pose as a  threat as the Algarve side host Sporting.

Olha have been in good form since the beginning of the year, having only lost once and earning 8 points to help them stay three points adrift of the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, Sporting have been in ghastly form and have played themselves out of the champonhsip race, not to mention being eliminated in sensational manner from the Portuguese and Carlsberg Cup by FC Porto and Benfica, respectively.

Yet, despite their woes, Jorge Costa still attrtibutes all the favouritism to the Lisbon side as the Leoes won the first meeting 3-2 at the Alvalade.

"I believe the favourites are clearly Sporting," stated Costa. We are a humble team who work as hard as any other and we also have our difficulties. But our objective, since the beginning, has been to stay in the top flight, whereas Sporting's was to wn the championship."

"We have merit to dispute the match equally with Sporting, as they can also return to their better performances, but we must end the match with three points."
