Dunga ponders surprise World Cup call-up for Hulk

Kaka keen on facing Cristiano Ronaldo in the final

DungaBrazil coach Dunga has not ruled out pulling a surprise in his World Cup squad by calling up FC Porto striker Hulk for the tournament.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid team-mate Kaka has admitted he wouldn’t be averse to meeting Portugal in the final in South Africa.

Dunga gave Hulk his debut in a friendly last year and was impressed with what he saw. “We’re observing all the players. We have several options. Hulk did well and has to wait for the list.”

The powerful striker has seen little action in recent months given that he is serving a long-term domestic suspension for assaulting a stadium steward after the Benfica-FC Porto match in December.

Fitness advantage

Hulk is able to play in the Champions League however, and will return for Porto’s final games of the season. A call-up may not be completely out of the question given that the striker would have one big advantage over most other players in the tournament – he will be fresh whereas the others have to recover from a long hard season.

Meanwhile, Kaka has been talking about his good relationship with Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. Both players moved to Real Madrid in the summer. “We mess around a lot. We have an excellent relationship and I thank him for all the friendship he has shown,” said the former World Player of the Year.

“As for who Brazil will meet along the way, it’s difficult to answer that question, but it wouldn’t be bad to play Portugal in the final!” added the stylish midfielder.

To Andre from Portugal.. First, your comment should start with what is 'Fresh' from Hamilton smoking, not all the people of Hamilton. Don't blame everyone from a city for one person's poor and ignorant opinion. Secondly, I think Porto has only lost one game with out Hulk in the line up. So to suggest that he would make the difference in Porto's position in the standings seems a bit over the top. Don't get me wrong, I like Hulk, but it takes an entire team to achieve success.
Hulk should be there

who else do they have at striker? fabiano, ronaldinho, robinho, pato, nilmar, wagner love? hulk would hold his own against any of them right now.

bring ronaldinho off the bench in honor of his career for them. there's probably better options but it's the right thing to do.

What are people in Hamilton, Canada smoking? Hulk definitely has fresh legs and he is chomping at the bit to play. Hulk is a terrific player with great tenacity, skill and physical strength as well as speed. From a purely sports perpective, it's a pity he hasn't played much this year, because if he had, the race to the finish of the Liga would be a bit different, it wouldn't be just Braga and Benfica.

I can see Hulk as a great striker for Brazil but given the temper he's shown on/off the field he could be a risk that costs Brazil. I agree that he should be rested but that lack of play could also catch up with they face the best teams in the world.

Yes apparently Kaka & Ronaldo are now best friends at Madrid so I wouldn't be surprised if Kaka actually said he wants to meet Portugal in the final.

Dunga must be ill for thinking for calling up Hulk, for one thing he's suspended and second he sucks big time, he should think of calling up Ronaldinho to save his World Cup hopes.
