Cristiano going nowhere....for now

Club president dismisses transfer rumours

Cristiano20080807.jpgPacos de Ferreira's president Fernando Sequeira has denied that star striker Cristiano will be leaving the club for Sporting come the January transfer window.

The 26-year-old's contract expires at the end of the season and it was believed that Sporting were interested in bringing the forward to the Alvalade as they would not have to pay much in the way of a transfer fee.

But Sequeira has quashed such notions stating that the club have not received any offers for the Brazilian nor have they been contacted regarding the possibiltiy of negotiating the player.

"We have absolutely nothing!," barked Sequeira on Antena 1. "We have excellent relations with all the clubs and we have not had any contact with any of them."

Sequeira adds that the player has been given authorization to take a few days off in order to tend to personal matters and that it should only be interpreted as such.

But the Pacos supremo does reiterate that the club will have to be compensated should any club be interested in taking Cristiano come January.

"Cristiano's contract expires ar the end of the season and, until then, he is a Pacos de Ferreira player. Anything can happen until then and if it comes to be that he leaves, it is obvious that the club will have to be remunerated."
