Porto’s Vieirinha wants to stay at PAOKMidfielder hopeful of continuing under Fernando Santos FC Porto winger Vieirinha says he would like to remain with Greek side PAOK for next season, but insist no decision has yet been taken on his future. The 23-year-old spent last season on-loan at the Toumba Stadium, where he played under the guidance of former Benfica boss Fernando Santos. A knee injury ruled the former Portugal under-21 international out of the majority of the first half of the season, but Vieirinha returned to full fitness in the New Year and managed to clock up sixteen league appearances. “I had a difficult season due to a serious knee injury and I don’t know what is going to happen,” Vieirinha told the Greek press on Monday. “I am waiting for a phonecall from FC Porto or PAOK, but I do not have any information on next season. “Fernando Santos was perfect with me and I am very thankful. I want to continue to work with him and I think he also wants me to stay at PAOK. I hope that Porto allow me to come back and play in Saloniki next season. “I belong to Porto and it is they who will decide, but I would prefer to be at PAOK. We are in the Europa League which is a great incentive and I want to help the team do well in European competitions.” Vieirinha is the second Portuguese to pledge his intentions to PAOK, after captain Sergio Conceicao recently stated his desire for one more year with the club. “Figo is 36, Nedved is 36/36; I am 34 years old, hence I still have one more year,” joked the 56-time Portuguese international.
